Jorgen Scot Bach-Hansen passed away peacefully on the afternoon of August 13, 2026, at the age of 87.

Jorgen was born in Denmark on March 27, 1939, to Einar Hansen and Anna Bach. He was the youngest of four children.

In 1977, Jorgen and Hanne moved with their two daughters from Denmark to the United States to be closer to Jorgen’s siblings, who were already living in the Washington, D.C., area. Jorgen and Hanne’s life together was marked by a spirit of adventure - from taking sailing lessons and moving their family across the Atlantic to retiring young and building, with their own hands, an off-grid home in the mountains of Virginia.

After experiencing complications following surgery in October 2025, Jorgen moved into long-term care at the beginning of 2026. Throughout that time, he was surrounded by the steadfast love of his family. Hanne, his devoted wife of 62 years, sat with him every day, while his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren visited each week.

Jorgen is survived by his beloved wife, Hanne; his daughters, Charlotte Jensen and Christine Link; his grandchildren, Emily, Caroline, Magnus, Mathias, and Johanna; and his great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Grace, Alaina, Azalea, and Kentrel Jr.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
