Joseph “Joe” Winfield Turner III

Joseph “Joe” Turner was born October 23, 1991 in Arlington, Virginia. He was called to eternal rest on April 17, 2026. Joe brought light, laughter and energy to everyone who knew him.

Joe spent his early years at Bren Mar Park Elementary School, where he served as Vice President of the Student Government Association. He went on to graduate from Annandale High School in 2010, where he played basketball all four years, building lifelong friendships and a deep love for the game.

His passion for basketball continued well beyond his playing days. Joe began his coaching career at Annandale High School, he was proud to give back to his alma mater. He later served as an assistant coach at Centreville High School, where he lead the team to win two state championships, and also took on the role of head coach. Most recently, Joe was an assistant coach at Westfield High School, contributing to a state championship victory this past year. Coaching was more than a job to Joe—it was a calling, and he poured his heart into mentoring and inspiring young athletes.

Outside of coaching, Joe worked for Fairfax County Public Schools as a Security Specialist at Cedar Lane School. He was known for his dedication and genuine love he had for the students and staff.

Joe will be remembered for his bright smile, infectious laughter, and his ability to light up any room. He was truly the life of the party. Everyone loved the videos he shared on social media. From his love (and frustration) for the Commanders & Wizards, to his hilarious food reviews, the laughter he created brought joy to so many. Those moments will be deeply missed.

Joe’s legacy is one of passion, humor, and connection. He leaves behind countless memories that will live on in the hearts of family, friends, players, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by:His parents, Rhonda and David Childs, Joseph Turner Jr.; Sisters Tiffanie and Lorraine; Daughter Noel; Aunts Lisa, Valerie, Robin, Mary Lou, Gloria, Joann, Donna, Pamela, LeeLee, Aldean and Maxine; Uncle Dino, Sonny, Jonathan and Chris; Godfather Jene Nelson. As well as a host of cousins and friends.
