Joseph HeaWook Lee

Joseph HeaWook Lee was 89 years old when he passed away at home in Springfield, VA on September 17, 2025 with his beloved wife of 56 years, Chunghi Lee next to him and his two sons Michael and Steve close by. Born in South Korea in 1936. He was the oldest of 11 children and came from the Korean Royal Family line. His family, like so many, struggled under Japanese Occupation, then WWII and finally the Korean War. His family survived and in the late 1950's he immigrated to the US to study and seek a new life. It was in the US that he met his wife, Chunghi Lee. They married in August of 1969 and then 9 months later welcomed their first child, Michael. 5 years later, they welcomed their second child, Steve. During these years, Joseph worked as a computer programmer first for American Security Bank and eventually Bank of America. He worked hard to provide a home and good life for his family. He loved Golf and would often "drag" his two boys to the country club to play with him. His vision of teaching golf to his boys resulted in Steve lettering on the High School Golf team and being an active player to this day. During his retirement years, he enjoyed playing golf with his wife.

He is survived by his wife, Chunghi Lee, his two sons Michael & Steve, his daugher in law Allison Lee and two grandchildren Wilson Woo Yung Lee and Calvin Woo Jin Lee.

A service will be held at 10am on Tue, Sept 23, at St Paul Chung 4712 Rippling Pond Dr, Fairfax, VA 22033, followed immediately by graveside service at Fairfax Memorial Park 9900 Braddock Rd at 11:30, and then all are welcome to join us for lunch at Sushi On in Fair Oaks as guests of our family.
