Judith A. Rhodes (August 26, 1940-May 23, 2026) was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She lived her whole life in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, growing up on Roxboro Drive in Washington, D.C., and moving to Arlington, Virginia in the late 1950s. She accepted Christ as her savior in her late teens at Cherrydale Baptist Church under the preaching of Pastor A.W. Jackson. She married James W. Rhodes in 1964 and had four children with him that she raised with constant love and devotion. She and James were longtime residents of Arlington, Virginia, where they lived for over 63 years, including over 52 years in the Glencarlyn community. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She volunteered in the nursery at Cherrydale Baptist Church for decades and taught two and three year olds for nearly 20 years at McLean Presbyterian Church, which she joined in 2001. She conveyed God’s love in Jesus to everyone she met, especially family, friends, and the young children she cared for. She loved to bowl and served as secretary of several bowling leagues for many years. She is survived by her sister Linda Sikes; her children, Jonathan Alan Rhodes, Christina Rhodes McCrary, Jason Wesley Rhodes, and Jeffrey Lynn Rhodes; and her grandchildren, Thomas A. McCrary IV, Justin D. Rhodes, Noah James McCrary, Troy McCrary, Ellie Rhodes, and Riley Rhodes. Her funeral will be held at McLean Presbyterian Church at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 1, 2026. If you are unable to attend the funeral, there will be a reception following at 12:30 p.m. She will be laid to rest at Columbia Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
