Julianne McDonald

January 12, 1946 – June 30, 2026

Julianne McDonald, beloved by her family and friends, passed away on June 30, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on January 12, 1946, in Washington, DC.Julie lived a life marked by kindness, grace, and devotion to those she loved.

She will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and the lasting impression she made on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Whether through her love for family, her friendships, or the simple ways she brought comfort and joy to others. Julie leaves behind a legacy of compassion and love. She was the consummate crafter, diehard Redskins fan, and an immediate friend to anyone she met. She dedicated her career to serving individuals with disabilities and then later in life transitioned to the field of health care administration.

Julie is survived by her cherished friends and loved ones, including Lisa Ownby, who was like a daughter to her, Marshall, Briar, Oakley, and Townsend Ownby-Connolly, who were like grandchildren to her, Alison Heilig, her close friend and caregiver, Gary Raymond, her lifelong cherished friend, Bill and Mike her angels on earth, and her dear friends Tanae Knuepple, Armand, and Gail Hill, who all will forever hold her memory close.  She was preceded in death by her father, William Emmett McDonald, her mother, Irene Sterling, her sister, Lindy Fritts, and her adopted son Barry Wayne Taylor; they all welcomed her in peace.

A graveside service will be held August 1, 2026, at 2:00 pm at Fairfax Memorial Gardens Cemetery 9900 Braddock Road Fairfax, VA 22032, officiated by the Rev. Nancy Walker. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Julie's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital at www.stjude.org.
