It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Kathleen “Kathy” Logan Matusiak on June 26, 2026, in Virginia. Kathy passed due to complications after a cardiac arrest. It was a blessing for us all to share that she passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.

Kathy was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1950, and she spent her early years as part of a military family before settling on Chicago as the Logan family home base. Kathy decided to start the family expansion to the DMV area, finally moving to Arlington, VA, where she lived and worked for the last 40 years.

Over the past 20 years, she proudly volunteered with the League of Women Voters, inspired by her mother who did the same in her earlier years. Through Kathy’s dedication, she helped register hundreds of high school students in Northern Virginia and taught the importance of making their voices heard through their vote. Upon her retirement from the League in 2024, she received an award recognizing her tremendous impact over more than 20 years of service to the community. Professionally, Kathy was known for her dedication, integrity, and the meaningful relationships she built throughout her career and her life.

Kathy was preceded in death by her father, Charles Logan, and her beloved husband, CB Matusiak, to whom she was married for 27 years. She is survived by her mother, Beverly Logan; brothers Steve (Betty) Logan, Mike (Sally) Logan, and Bob (Jennifer) Logan; daughters Heather (Heather) Barksdale, and Erin King; step-daughters Gina Matusiak, and Lisa (Idan) Zocher; grandchildren Charlie and Teddy Barksdale, Jackson, Carter, Dylan, and Ryan King, Mila and Luca Zocher, and Jaden Love; as well as her nieces and nephews Brittany (Josh) Goldsmith, Amber Logan, Hailey and Kate Logan, and Timothy, Christopher, David, and Matthew Logan.

One of Kathy’s favorite places was Cocoa Beach, Florida, where she cherished time with her wonderful circle of friends and family who came to visit. Whether enjoying the beach, relaxing by the pool, or gathering for “happy hour on the dock,” she created lasting memories. She especially loved spoiling her grandchildren with trips to the surf shops and the dinosaur store.

Kathy was a shining light in the lives of all who knew her and will be remembered for the love she shared and the joy she inspired. A service and celebration of Kathy’s life will be held on August 8, 2026, at 3:30pm at The Falls Church Episcopal in Falls Church, Virginia.

Box 100577, Arlington, VA 22210) or the American Heart Association (heart.org). She would want us to alert women that symptoms of heart failure present very differently in women than they do in men, so you may not suspect a heart issue when you’re not feeling well.
