Kathleen Nicole Thomas, 59, of Annandale, VA died at home on June 3rd, 2026 after a hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. She was a cherished wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend.
She was born in Detroit, MI on October 29th, 1966, the oldest child of Robert and Mary Jo Revitte, growing up in Michigan, Colorado and Arizona.
Kathleen graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in Englewood, CO, and graduated from West Virginia University in 1989.
Being the eldest of her many siblings, she was a natural protector and leader. That was made evident by her early job as a pool lifeguard. In college, Kathleen fell in love with journalism and the news while interning at CNN’s London bureau. After graduation she moved to Washington, D.C. to pursue her passion. She covered stories for ABC News in Washington and around the country. Her greatest ‘get’ while at ABC was meeting the love of her life, Drew.
Kathleen was a proud mom to two beautiful children Andrew and Caroline. She was active in their hobbies and deeply cared about her community. She had an extraordinary gift for putting others before herself, always offering her time, compassion, and support without hesitation. Kathleen's heart was truly limitless—whether she was helping a neighbor, lending a listening ear, or serving others through her work at Fairfax County Public Schools and Fairfax County’s Department of Family Services. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering dedication to those around her left a lasting impact that will never be forgotten.
Kathleen is survived by her husband Andrew (Drew) Thomas and their two children, Andrew and Caroline Thomas, as well as her father Robert Revitte. Her beloved mother, Mary Jo Revitte, passed away on June 3rd, the same day as Kathleen. She is missed by her many siblings, Rob Revitte, Mary Livaudais, Jeanne Moore, Joe Revitte, Dan Revitte, Sarah Burckart, and Steve Revitte; as well as her sisters-in-law, Kelly Hart and Laurie Thomas. Kathleen also leaves behind supportive aunts, uncles, cousins and countless nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Food for Others, honoring Kathleen's dedication to her local community.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the extraordinary kindness and support by co-workers, friends and neighbors during Kathleen’s months-long fight.
A funeral mass will be held to celebrate Kathleen’s life on Monday, June 15, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church 1315 36th Street, NW Washington, DC 20007. A reception will immediately follow.
