Kathryn Ann Yeager passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025. Known to her loved ones and friends as Kat, she will be remembered for her generous heart, her beautiful smile, her many talents, and her love of knitting and all manner of art and craft. Kat was born in Washington, DC and raised in DC and Falls Church VA. As an adult, she lived in Arlington, VA. She is survived by her partner of more than 48 years, Robin Cookson; her sisters Nancy Allard (Paul) and Jace Foss (Richard); nephews Mark and Brian Allard and nieces Naomi and Rebecca Foss. She was great-aunt to Jack and Livy Allard and Owen Meade.
Kat worked for the Federal Government for 35 years, first at the National Archives Trust Fund and then at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. She was widely respected and well known for her analytical skills and her extraordinary talents, both at work and in volunteer activities. In her non-working moments, she and Robin enjoyed participating in science fiction conventions around the world with friends. Later Kat and Robin shared many Viking cruises with her sisters and their spouses. She was a good friend to many and will be missed by all who loved her.
As per Kat’s wishes, no public funeral service will be held. Instead, a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in her memory to Capital Caring Health, which provided hospice care for Kat (https://www.capitalcaring.org/get-involved/donate/) or a charity of your choice.
