IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kenneth Wayne
Mobley
September 1, 1958 – October 14, 2025
Kenneth “Ken” Wayne Mobley, 67, of Newport News, Virginia, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, at Inova Fairfax Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
A patriot with an incredible work ethic, Ken devoted over 40 years to Newport News Shipbuilding, proudly contributing to the defense of our country. He had a true servant’s heart for others and was known for the quiet, tireless sacrifices he made to provide for his family — notably ensuring his sons, Christopher and Steven, received a formative Christian education and the means to attend college at Virginia Tech. A lifelong athlete and avid sports fan, Ken was a wealth of knowledge on football, baseball, and golf and was committed to cheering on his favorite Washington Commanders. He was also his sons’ biggest supporter, a consistent presence at nearly all of their sporting events and major life moments. His deep love for them remained constant, often expressed through his regular phone calls, and his heart broke each time theirs did.
The final months of Ken’s life were full of quality time with close family — discussing faith and the future, reminiscing about the past, reading the Bible, watching sports, and enjoying many of his favorite foods (chief among them Red Lobster’s “Admiral’s Feast”). He was an attentive listener and, as was true throughout his life, could often be heard asking questions to learn more about those around him, and never missed the opportunity to provide a humorous remark. During this season, Ken deepened his relationship with the Lord and found more joy and peace in Christ. Through this precious time, family bonds were strengthened, bringing a sense of closure, reconciliation, and peace. His family finds comfort in knowing he has entered the Lord’s rest.
He is survived by his sons, Christopher Mobley and Steven (Madison) Mobley; his mother, Shirley “Jean” Mobley; and his brother, Victor Mobley. He was preceded in death by his father, James Wright Mobley, and his brother, James Timothy “Timmy” Mobley.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in Robersonville, North Carolina, where Ken will be laid to rest beside his beloved brother, Timmy.
