Khyrra Elaine Johnson-Staggers

Khyrra Elaine Johnson Staggers passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. A proud lifelong New Yorker, Khyrra spent most of her life in Manhattan, where she built a life rich with family, faith, and friendship.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Staggers, and her daughters, Tammy Lisa Carter and Shonta Boone. She is survived by her daughters Karen Boone, Tyeaesis (Ty) Johnson, and Khyrra Canady; her first husband and forever friend, Leonard Johnson; her sister, Marlene Taylor; along with 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews she cherished. She also leaves behind cousins in New York, North Carolina, Trinidad and Tobago, and across Canada, all of whom she loved dearly.

Khyrra retired from the New York Telephone Company (now Verizon) after many years of service. She will be remembered for her unwavering love, warmth, and laughter, and for the joy she found in dancing, traveling, cruising to sunny places, and gathering around a good meal.

Her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with loved ones who have gone before her, and that her spirit lives on in all who knew and loved her.
