Kinnaird Somerset McQuade Jr., known as Kinny, of Great Falls, Virginia, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, generosity, and unwavering love. Born on June 10, 1958, in Philadelphia, Kinny's life was a testament to strength and perseverance.
In 2015, Kinny experienced a traumatic brain injury that left him paralyzed from the waist down. Yet, in the face of overwhelming adversity, he remained a warrior. Through determination and sheer willpower, he regained strength in his arms and the ability to speak, inspiring all who knew him.
Kinny touched countless hearts with his generous spirit and steadfast desire to help others. Ever analytical, he expressed his love through hard work and quiet acts of service. His actions spoke volumes, reflecting his deep commitment to those he cared about.
A proud graduate of Notre Dame and a devout Catholic, Kinny also earned his MBA in Finance at Indiana University. He found his greatest joy in his family. He cherished his beloved wife, Susan, and their three children: Kinnaird (and his wife Shereen), Aurora, and Maria. Their love, laughter, and shared passions in academics, sports, music, and dance were the center of his world.
A lifelong fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and the Washington Commanders, Kinny supported his teams through every season, good and bad. He excelled at tennis and golf, finding joy in both competition and camaraderie. No matter the occasion, Kinny was always ready to savor life’s simple pleasures, especially chicken nuggets and a slice of cherry pie.
In his passing, Kinny continued to give to others by donating his liver, two kidneys, corneas, and other tissues, offering the gift of life to those in need. His heart was donated for research.
Kinny was predeceased by his stepfather H. Leonard Edwards, Jr., his mother Joanne C. Edwards, and his father Kinnaird S. McQuade, Sr. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his brother Kevin, step-siblings Stacie, Missy, and Henry, and his granddaughter Alyssa.
Kinny's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His resilience, love, and unwavering faith serve as a reminder that even in the face of life's greatest challenges, joy and kindness can prevail.
