Lamont's faith was central to his life. He earned a diploma in Salvation and Faith Studies from Jericho Christian Training Center/College, embracing his beliefs with dedication and humility. His devotion to his faith was expressed through his tireless volunteer work, motivated by a desire to strengthen his community and nation. In recognition of his selfless service, Lamont was honored with The President’s Volunteer Service Award by President Barack Obama in both 2012 and 2014, a testament to his enduring commitment to making a positive difference.

For over four decades, Lamont made his home in a local apartment complex where he was a beacon of kindness and generosity. Known throughout the residence for his gracious demeanor and readiness to assist others, Lamont's efforts were continually recognized with the Outstanding Volunteer Award by Enterprise Residential. His contributions uplifted many programs and initiatives, reflecting his lifelong passion for service.

A man of many interests, Lamont found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a special affection for his chiffchaffs—tiny songbirds whose joyful singing greeted him each morning, bringing brightness and peace to his day. Lamont also cherished his participation in the NBC Health Fair, where he was warmly welcomed by the newscasters, and he stood as a steadfast supporter at the annual Congressional Black Caucus events, connecting with and encouraging his political representatives in their endeavors.

Lamont Herbert Holbert will be remembered as a model of kindness, faith, and dedication—a truly exceptional individual who gave freely of himself to uplift those around him. His legacy of love, service, and gentle humanity will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. He leaves to mourn his brother’s Herbert K. Holbert, Steven V. Holbert, and Mark A. Holbert, sister’s Erin A. Holbert and Rotha (Holbert) Frye, and step sibling’s Joanlee R. Martin, Kimberly A. Martin and Richard A. Martin, and a number of nieces, nephews, and friends.

He will be deeply missed, and our hearts ache with sorrow. However, we take comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his beloved parents and all his ancestors.
