Larry Anderson

October 10, 1963 – August 16, 2026

Larry Anderson, 62, passed away suddenly on August 16, 2026. His unexpected passing leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a deep sense of loss for all who knew and loved him.

Larry was born on October 10, 1963, in Suitland, Maryland, to the late Maryanna Herbert and Alfred Anderson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Mary Helen Haynes and Doris Richardson.

Larry was a hardworking man who took great pride in working, providing for himself, and making a living. He began his career with the Fairfax County Virginia Public School System in November 2000, where he worked as a school bus driver until his retirement in 2024.

Larry's love of work extended beyond his career with Fairfax County. On weekends and during the summers, he also drove a shuttle bus for George Washington's Mount Vernon in Virginia. He enjoyed staying busy and earning money, and his strong work ethic was something that defined him throughout his life. When Larry retired from Fairfax County Public Schools in 2024, he also retired from his work at Mount Vernon.

Larry shared 35 years of his life with his beloved life partner, David Allen "Jay" Marshall. Their long relationship was filled with companionship, love, and the experiences of building a life together.

Larry is survived by Jay; his nieces, Sandra Haynes, Rebecca McDaniel, Zenda Haynes, and Brenda Haynes; and his dear friend of 41 years, Lynne Benton, along with extended family, friends, former coworkers, and many others whose lives he touched throughout the years.

Larry will be remembered for his incredible work ethic, his determination, his love of staying busy, and his straightforward approach to life. He was a man who believed in working hard and enjoying the rewards of that work. For those who knew him best, Larry was a loyal friend, a devoted partner, and a familiar presence whose absence will be deeply felt.

A memorial service celebrating Larry's life will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at George Washington's Mount Vernon, Virginia.

Family, friends, former coworkers, and all who knew Larry are invited to gather together, share memories, and celebrate the life of a man who spent his years working hard, building relationships, and leaving his mark on the people around him.

Larry will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered
