IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Loretta Louise
(Hall) Hilliard
January 17, 1953 – December 20, 2025
Loretta Louise (Hall) Hilliard, born in the quiet heart of Dickenson County, Virginia, on January 17, 1953, gently and peacefully stepped into eternal rest on December 20, 2025. Her life was a testament to resilience, courage, and an indomitable spirit that refused to dim, even in the face of profound challenges. Loretta’s story was not defined by adversity alone, but by love, laughter, and family bonds. Loretta carried a strong work ethic early in her career she worked for Goodwill and other various warehouse factories. When her health made it necessary to step away from work, she faced that transition with the same determination that marked every chapter of her life. Illness tested her body, but never her spirit Loretta was a fighter in every sense of the word, inspiring all who knew her with her strength, perseverance, and refusal to give up.
Family held a significant place in Loretta’s life. She was a devoted mother to Aimee Rodriguez-Zepeda (Ray), Robert Kiser (Randi), and Holli Kiser, and she took great care in supporting and guiding her children throughout their lives. Loretta was a proud grandmother to her thirteen grandchildren Marianna, Ty, Kyla, Michael, Aniya, Kayla, Nate, Naisha, Adam, Tatiana, Patrick, Derek, and Erick and a loving great-grandmother to Artemis and Pan Liora. She also valued her relationships she shared with her nieces and nephews.
Loretta’s ability to connect with others was unique; she had an uncanny knack for expressing just the right words even in the most unexpected moments, sometimes serious, sometimes humorous, but always sincere. She offered comfort, warmth and laughter to family gatherings. Loretta found joy in the things she loved, including a good game of bingo, listening to old LP records, watching a favorite movie, and enjoying the music of Elvis Presley. She had a fondness for roses, tulips, and Easter lilies and the casino. Through her kindness, thoughtfulness, and selfless nature, Loretta left smiles, stories, and lasting memories with everyone fortunate enough to know her. Through it all, her kindness, thoughtfulness, and selfless spirit resonated with everyone who crossed her path.
Loretta's journey has been embraced by those who preceded her in death, including her grandparents, General "Thurman" Hall (Father), and Lena (Counts) Wallace (Mother), along with her nephew, David "Red" Edwards, brother Donnie "Mack" Edwards Sr., and sisters Pat Wallace and Lola Bennett. Though they are no longer with us, their spirits undoubtedly surround her as she transitioned. As we reflect on Loretta’s life, we honor a soul that fought valiantly, loved deeply, and cared selflessly. Though she has transited to join the ancestors, her light continues to guide those she left behind. The legacy of love will echo in the hearts of her family, for Loretta Louise (Hall) Hilliard was not just a name but a cherished spirit whose memory will forever resonate with those she loved.
Loretta’s legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the love she gave. She will be remembered for her unwavering strength, her gentle kindness, her quick wit, and the warmth that radiated from her soul. Though her physical presence is gone, her laughter still echoes, and her love remains in the lives of those she leaves behind. As we say goodbye, we do not say farewell to her spirit. Instead, we carry her forward in our memories, in our families, and in the love she so generously gave. Loretta Louise (Hall) Hilliard was not merely a name, but a beautiful soul whose light will continue to shine through generations.
