Marcella Mary McCarthy Corbett passed away peacefully at home on March 12, 2026, after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family.

Marcie was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit shaped the lives of all who knew her. Known for her strong faith and love of bringing people together, she treasured time with family and friends and rarely missed an opportunity to celebrate life’s special moments.

Born and raised in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of Jeremiah and Anna McCarthy and one of six children. She graduated from Holy Trinity High School in Georgetown. She later made her home in Alexandria, Virginia, where she and her family built a life filled with friendships, service, and community.

She shared a long and happy marriage with her beloved husband, Bernard R. Corbett, who predeceased her in 2011. Together they built a large and close-knit family that remained the center of her life. Marcie had a gift for bringing people together and making every gathering feel special. She was deeply committed to her community and volunteered in Alexandria for many years. Her service included working with the Auxiliary at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital, Twig, Catholic Charities and Hospice of Northern Virginia. She served on the board of Washington Regional Transplant Consortium and Fairfax Hospital Board, was a Realtor with McEnearney Associates and was also a co-owner of With Ease.

Marcie is survived by her children and their spouses: Kim Peele (Buzz), Kasey Corbett, Kevin Corbett (Colleen), Karen Corbett Sanders (Daniel), Kelly Olafsson (Erik), and Kerry Corbett (Toni McKenna). She leaves behind 13 cherished grandchildren: Marcella Oakley, Emily Corbett, Kaitlynn Taylor, Hope Peele, Rose Peele, Jack Corbett, Joe Corbett, Sara Sanders, Annelieske Sanders, Julie Rafferty, Luke Olafsson, Edward McKenna, and Genevieve McKenna. She was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Kevin McCarthy and Bitsy Bullock.

She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard R. Corbett; her daughter-in-law, Milagro Corbett; her grandson, Joseph McKenna; and her parents and siblings, Jeremiah and Ann McCarthy, Mary Ann Schor, Kay Phelps, and Jerry McCarthy.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on April 20, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Alexandria, Virginia, with a reception to follow. The family will hold a private inurnment.
