Margaret Cherilyn Spitz

Margaret Cherilyn (Cheri) Spitz, age 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 9, after a long battle with cancer. She is predeceased by her husband, Douglas Spitz and her parents, Harry and Ardie Honer. She is survived by her three children: Jeffrey Spitz of Charlotte, NC, (wife Kimberly and children Mason, Jacob and Bennett), Jennifer Milder of Arlington, VA (husband Ben and children Juliet and Caroline), and Laura Spencer of Falls Church, VA,(husband Kevin and children Kathryn and Alexander). She also leaves behind her many brothers,sisters, nieces and nephews

Cheri Spitz was born on February 18, 1948 in Wonewoc, Wisconsin. She met her husband, Doug, in college and moved with him to New Mexico where they two had two children, Jeffrey and Jennifer. The family moved to North Carolina in the early 1970’s. There they built theirRaleigh home in which they would live for the next 45 years. They welcomed their third child, Laura, in 1981.

Cheri worked for Resurrection Lutheran Church in Cary, NC for thirty-six years, first as a preschool teacher and then as Director for Resurrection Lutheran Preschool. She was well-known for her zany costumes, beloved by the children of the preschool, and she cherished her friendships with her teachers, many of whom became her life-long friends. Cheri was also the loving grandmother to seven grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Cheri will be mourned by her many friends and family and remembered for her joy of life and the love she gave to anyone who came within her sphere.
