Marlin Larvene Aughenbaugh, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 5th, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on December 9th, 1934, in York, Pennsylvania, Marlin was the son of Curtis Henry Aughenbaugh and Reta Alfrietta (Schriver) Aughenbaugh. His early years in York shaped the steady, grounded, and quietly adventurous man he would become.

Marlin proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, carrying with him throughout life the discipline, loyalty, and sense of purpose that service instills. After his military years, he embarked on a career that perfectly matched his love of movement and discovery. As a world traveler, he spent many years with National Airlines and later Pan Am, ultimately serving as a Pan Am Station Operations Manager at Dulles Airport. His work allowed him to see the world, but more importantly, it allowed him to connect with people from every corner of it.

Marlin married the love of his life, Charlotte (Friese) Aughenbaugh, and together they built a family rooted in devotion, humor, and resilience. He was a modern father before his time, working evenings so he could care for his three children during the day — a choice that shaped them into the capable, loving adults he was so proud of.

He had a spirit that was always in motion. Whether he was heading across town or across the world, Marlin simply loved to go. His curiosity, his readiness for the next adventure, and his ability to find joy in both the everyday and the extraordinary were defining traits that stayed with him throughout his life.

Marlin was preceded in death by his beloved wife Charlotte Mae Aughenbaugh, his parents Curtis Henry Aughenbaugh and Reta Aughenbaugh Einsig, and his stepfather Albert Einsig.

He is survived by his children and their spouses — Patricia Fischer (Randy), Christina Morrison (Gery), and David Aughenbaugh (Gladis) — who will forever carry his lessons and his love. He is also survived by his grandchildren Daniel Marlin Morrison (Emily) and Curtis Marlin Aughenbaugh, and his great‑grandchild Ryan Rae Morrison, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

Marlin is also survived by his two sisters, Charlotte Boeckel and Mareta Elvey, who shared in the memories, laughter, and bonds of a lifetime.

Services will be held in York, Pennsylvania, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina at a later date, allowing family and friends from near and far to gather and celebrate Marlin’s remarkable life.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Briarcliffe RV Resort Pavilion Fund, a place connected to many happy memories.

Marlin’s life was defined by love, service, curiosity, and motion. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion to family, a lifetime of stories from around the world, and the quiet example of a man who lived fully, traveled widely, loved deeply and carried a smile that wouldn’t quit.
