Mary Elizabeth Anderson Boyd died on August 25, 2026, at her home in Arlington, Virginia. 

She is survived by her daughter Mary Mallory Boyd (Robert), two grandchildren, Kellen Baskervill Brooks and Annabella Merle Brooks, and her longtime friend Rudy Szollar. She is also survived by her sister Alice Garnett (Blair), two brothers, Jack Anderson (Gail) and Jim Anderson (Martha) and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was born July 11, 1940, to the late James Edward Anderson and the late Alice Merle Baskervill Anderson. She graduated from Amelia High School and Richmond Professional Institute.She lived a vibrant life both professionally and as a lifelong volunteer. The majority of her professional career was as an Interior Designer for the Department of Veterans Affairs. In 2008, the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) awarded her the highest honor, an ASID Fellowship. As a volunteer, she worked at The White House for three administrations, overseeing the Blue Room Christmas tree. 

She had a natural ability to connect with people. She will be missed by her family, friends, and community.

The funeral service will be held at Amelia Presbyterian Church on September 12, 2026, at 11 am.
