Matthew Peter Bahlo

June 13, 1998 — July 8, 2024

Matthew Peter Bahlo was born in Marin County Hospital in Greenbrae, California on June 13, 1998. He unexpectedly went home to be with Jesus on July 8, 2024, at 3:45 pm. The doctors found a tumor in his head which led to excessive build-up of CSF. Matthew had a severe seizure at home, was rushed to the hospital, and went through emergency surgery to relieve the pressure but it was too late. Matthew was surrounded by family and loved ones during his last days.

He spent most of his life in Fairfax, Virginia, where his family moved when he was 3 years old. He graduated High School from Trinity Christian School in Fairfax, where he enjoyed playing lacrosse, basketball, and soccer. He went on to get his degree in Bachelor of Business Administration in Computer Information Systems from James Madison University. He got a job with NTT Data after graduation, where he excelled. His coworkers spoke of how he was always there for his team members. His team stated that he was a hard worker and always the first to help anyone on his team.

Matthew genuinely loved everyone. He was a friend to all. He often said, “It is quite simple, we are called to love like Jesus.” He did that, he loved wholeheartedly all who he encountered, truly showing the love of Christ. Matthew loved making jokes and brought a lightheartedness to any situation. He had an infectious laugh and shined his bright light to all he encountered. He was always there to serve others and lend a hand wherever he was needed. In 2018, over his summer break, he spent two months in Benavides, Brazil where he selflessly served. He helped to build and construct a home for a homeless family, as well as witnessed to children and helped to facilitate a camp. Matthew loved playing basketball, it was his favorite sport. He enjoyed hiking and was known to hike in his Sperrys. He had recently taken up golf. He enjoyed playing barefoot and inspired his brother and others to do so. Matthew brought joy wherever he went, he lived in the present and enjoyed each moment. He didn’t worry about what others thought but lived his life for each moment.

Matthew was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his parents, Michael and Lenna, brother Christopher (wife Becca), and niece Brielle.
