Mei Lin Sun, age 79, passed away on October 4, 2025. She was born in 1946, in Anhui, China, the eldest child of the late Fung-Chi and Chih King Sun.

As a daughter of a diplomat for the Republic of China, she left China when she was an infant and lived in Italy. When the nationalist army lost to the Chinese communists in 1949, she and her family moved to Taiwan. During high school, they lived in Japan for several years. After high school, Mei Lin worked as a receptionist at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Taipei, where she met her husband, Hsien Chao Sun, who also was a diplomat for Taiwan. During their marriage, they lived in Ivory Coast and twice in Haiti.

Mei Lin immigrated to the United States in her 40s, learned to drive, passed her citizenship test, and became a U.S. citizen. She was a gentle and kind mother, grandmother, sister and friend, loved by her family and friends. Mei-Lin is survived and missed by her loving husband of almost 54 years, Hsien Chao; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Catherine and Benjamin Wood, Josephine and Benjamin Bujnowski; four granddaughters, Lauren, Olivia and Charlotte Wood, and Alina Bujnowski; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Rosa and Peter Liu and Lisa Ley; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Joe and Judy Sun, and Paul and Margaret Sun; and seven nieces and nephews and their families, Julie Liu (Sophie and Lyla), William Liu, Olivia and Damon Orobona (Hunter), Patricia Ley, Brian Sun, Emily Sun and Justin Sun.
