IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Melanie Lauren
Reingardt
September 26, 1979 – December 22, 2025
Melanie Lauren Reingardt, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025, in Washington DC, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will resonate through the lives she touched. Born on September 26, 1979, in Naples, Florida, Melanie's warmth and gentle spirit were evident from a young age, qualities that would define her throughout her remarkable life.
Melanie dedicated her career to working with various companies in downtown DC, where her sharp intellect and compassionate nature shone brightly. Her academic journey began at Bishop Verot High School, continuing on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Florida Gulf Coast University, and later, a Master’s degree in International Peace and Conflict Resolution from American University. Her commitment to understanding the complexities of the world around her reflected her desire to contribute positively to society.
Family was everything to Melanie. The memories she created with her loved ones during joyful days at the beach, serene afternoons at the lake in North Carolina, and treasured visits to the Biltmore will be cherished forever. Not to forget the lively family gatherings in Fort Myers, which became a beautiful tradition, albeit preferable outside of the summer heat! These moments showcased her love for life and those around her, moments that made her face light up with happiness.
Melanie was a kind and gentle soul with an independent spirit who thrived in the vibrancy of city life. She had a deep affection for animals, especially horses, dogs, and cats, and her home was a sanctuary for her beloved pets. An avid reader and exceptionally computer literate, Melanie embraced technology and literature with enthusiasm. Music filled her life, and her extraordinary ability to give heartfelt hugs was something that everyone who knew her would cherish.
Melanie is survived by her father, F. John Reingardt, and his wife, Mary; her brother, Andrew Reingardt; her sister, Kathy Carr; her aunt, Lynn Ferguson; her uncle, Terre Reingardt; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Welcoming her into eternity is her beloved mother, Margaret Ellen Starling, whose love and guidance were foundational to Melanie’s life. Though Melanie’s physical presence may be gone, the love she shared and the light she brought into the world will remain eternal, inspiring all who had the privilege of knowing her.
