Melinda Anderson Whitley, of Manassas, Virginia, passed peacefully on Feb 26, 2026 at the age 71.  She was born Feb 24, 1955 in Beardstown, IL. Mindy spent her early years in Northern Virginia but then spent 4 years in abroad in Northern Italy with her family during her father’s military deployment. After returning to the U.S. the family once again settled in Alexandria, Virginia.  Mindy graduated from T.C. Williams High School in 1973 and went on to have a career working for the U.S. Air Force at the Pentagon. Later she moved to General Dynamics Corp. where she had great success as a Sub-Contracts Specialist.

Mindy is survived by her two sisters, Cherill Anderson, of Manassas, Virginia and Tracy Hughes  and her husband David, of Kennebunkport, Maine, as well as her niece Sidney Carpenter and her two sons Ryan Rocha and Jaxon Rocha of Manassas, Virginia. She is also survived by her beloved kitty Bella. Mindy was a wonderful sister. She was a kind and gentle soul. Mindy loved to paint and fixing things. We often called Mindy the family carpenter.
