MystiQue Je'Nae Barnes

Mystique was born on July 3, 1992, in Virginia to Jeff and Earlene, and from the very beginning, she was surrounded by deep love and care. She grew into a beautiful soul with a warm heart, a joyful spirit, and a smile that could light up any room.

She explored many paths—studying cosmetology, FX makeup, and sterile processing—but her true joy came from following her heart and embracing her creativity. That passion led her to build Vere’s Bakery, where she poured her love into every creation. Through her work, she became a part of so many special moments, bringing happiness and sweetness into the lives of others.

More than anything, Mia loved her family and friends with her whole heart. She had a way of making people feel seen, loved, and understood. Her compassion, laughter, wisdom, and quiet strength left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

She is lovingly remembered by her parents, Jeff and Earlene; her brothers, Spenser and Sterling; her lifelong partner, Maliek; her grandmother, Mary; her uncles, James and Burcell; her aunts, Kimberly and Adahlia; her close cousins, Rayna, Ari, Alex, and Arnie; her best friends, Sade and Kendu; and so many other relatives and friends who were blessed to know her.

Though she is no longer with us, Mia’s love, light, and beautiful spirit will continue to live on in our hearts forever.
