IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nora Jean
Klein
December 4, 1953 – November 8, 2025
Nora Jean (“Jeannie”) Klein
Nora Jean (Jeannie) Klein passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at her home in Springfield, Virginia. Born on December 4, 1953, in Arlington, Virginia, she was the fifth child of Joseph Radnora Klein and Laura Evalyn Klein.
After graduating from Oakton High School in 1972, she earned an associate’s degree from Northern Virginia Community College in food service and hotel management. She took a job with the state government in 1975 at the Northern Virginia Training Center in Fairfax, Virginia, starting there in the kitchen, moving to secretarial and administrative positions, and working with clients and their families. She won numerous awards for her work there, ultimately retiring in 2005. In her retirement, she took several part-time jobs before becoming a receptionist for many years at Adtek Engineers in Fairfax, Virginia, retiring for a second time a few years ago.
Jeannie was loyal and devoted to her many friends and was a fun-loving and indulgent aunt and great aunt to her siblings’ many children and grandchildren. She loved to plan her extended family’s yearly Easter picnic at Lake Accotink Park and then later Occoquan Regional Park. Her playful spirit and love of pranks made her a favorite among children of all ages.
She was an avid crafter and seamstress, sewing countless Halloween costumes over the years for her friends and family. She had a passion for thrifting and yard-saleing, finding treasures for others and collecting purses, penguins, and flamingos for herself. She was a steadfast, rabid fan of the Washington Redskins/Football Team/Commanders. Jeannie also loved music of all kinds, but notably was a confirmed Parrothead, attending as many Jimmy Buffett concerts as she could. She was a prolific volunteer with Volunteer Fairfax for many years, but especially loved volunteering every year to make handmade valentines for teenagers who had aged out of the foster care system.
Jeannie will be remembered for her feisty nature, her generosity and willingness to pitch in, her creativity, her sense of fun and adventure, and her love of children and her large and diverse extended family. If you were part of her tribe, she let you know, and you counted yourself lucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Paul Edward Klein and Roger Eric Klein. Her sister Betty Jo Bloodgood of Spokane, Washington, passed away on November 24, 2025. She is survived by her sisters Gloria K. Underwood of Delta, Ohio, and Sue Ann Kimble (Mike) of Stafford, Virginia; her sister-in-law and dear friend Suzanne Wagner (Paul) of Fairfax, Virginia; her brothers Richard Allan (Shelley) of Springfield, Virginia, Garry Wade of Atlanta, Georgia, Danny Ray (Debbie) of Manassas, Virginia, and Dale Joseph (Beth) of Stafford, Virginia; numerous nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces; her cousin Joyce Smith of Martinsburg, West Virginia; and many other loving relatives.
A memorial service will be held at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 6320 Hanover Avenue, Springfield, Virginia 22150, on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 2:00 pm, with interment of ashes and reception to follow. The funeral will be live streamed on Facebook from the St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, Springfield, VA Facebook Page.
