Patricia Louise Wengert, known affectionately as Pat, was a radiant soul who touched the lives of everyone she met. Born on February 3, 1939, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, she was the shining light of her family. Raised primarily in Harrisburg by her widowed mother and grandmother, Pat's upbringing instilled in her a warm and welcoming disposition that defined her character. She was graduated from Penn State University in January 1961 with a degree in Elementary Education, a testament to her love for learning and nurturing others.
On June 13, 1961, she embarked on a beautiful journey of love and partnership when she married her devoted husband, William Wengert, in Tokyo, Japan. Together, they exemplified teamwork and resilience, especially during the demands of Bill’s 23-year Navy career. Pat was not just a supportive Navy wife; she was a remarkable mother, managing their family household through long absences, including during Bill's 1-year tour in Vietnam. Their family called many places home, moving 21 times across the globe from California to Japan, and everything in between.
Pat's love extended beyond her family; her warmth enveloped friends and community members alike. She had a special flair for interior decorating, always transforming spaces with her unique touch. Her creativity flourished in various hobbies, notably in card making and stamping. Alongside her daughter, Jennifer, Pat created beautiful cards that captured the hearts of many at craft shows, with Jennifer adding her colorful artistry to the designs.
As a passionate elementary educator, Pat dedicated her career to teaching in several schools, predominantly in Fairfax County, Virginia. When she settled into the vibrant over-55 community of Heritage Hunt in Gainesville, Virginia, she became an active member of the Women's Association, even serving as its President. Her community was her canvas, where she painted her cherished friendships and memories.
A devoted mother, Pat raised three wonderful children: Jeffrey Scott, Jennifer Lynne, and Stacey Jill. The void left by the passing of her beloved daughter Jennifer Lynne on May 18, 2022, is profound, yet Pat’s legacy of love continues through her surviving family.
Pat's final days were spent at INOVA Loudoun Hospital in Leesburg, Virginia, where she peacefully slipped away on August 10, 2025. She leaves behind a husband, a son, and a daughter who will carry forward her spirit and the many beautiful memories of their time together. Patricia Louise Wengert was a beautiful person, both inside and out, and her influence on those fortunate enough to know her will forever resonate.
