Percy "Tirasaco" Tellez: A Life Full of Flavor and Love
Percy Tellez, lovingly known as "Tirasaco," was born on February 15, 1940, in Oruro, Bolivia, and cooked his way into the hearts of many before peacefully departing on November 24, 2025, in McLean, Virginia. He was the adored patriarch: a cherished husband, a loving father, and a doting grandfather who made every life he touched warmer.
Percy’s love language was undoubtedly food. His kitchen was a boisterous haven, where he poured his heart into every dish, believing that sharing a meal was sharing a soul. Yet, his deep, lifelong passion for flavor was surpassed only by the boundless love he held for his nine grandchildren: Daniela, Andrea, Brandon, Victoria, Katherine, Alyson, Christine, Inti, and Kini. They were the bright, undeniable light of his life.
A truly captivating and eccentric man, Percy instilled in his three independent children—Claudia, Armando, and Daniel—an appreciation for art, classical music, and the beauty of the world. He found joy in simple pleasures: the quiet company of pets, reflective nature walks, and the unique contentment of a midday nap at Nordstrom.
He is survived by his beloved wife and steadfast partner, Matha Tellez, and his three children, who carry forward his legacy of strength. He is reunited with those who went before him, including his dear oldest son, Juan Carlos Tellez and all his brothers.
As we celebrate Percy, we remember a man whose life was a rich, unforgettable banquet. His influence will forever resonate in the love he so freely gave and the delicious memories shared around the family table.
Rest in peace our beloved Percy “tirassco”; your recipe for a wonderful life will never be forgotten.
