Peter M. Castiglioni, affectionately known as Pete, passed away on September 27, 2025, in Bethesda, MD, after bravely battling Stage 4 Pancreatic Carcinoma. Born on September 12, 1958, in Washington, D.C., Pete was a remarkable individual whose life was defined by his passion for mechanics, love for family, and dedication to military service.

Pete's early years were characterized by his active participation in various pursuits. He was not only a standout student academically but also excelled in athletics, being well-known in his high school for his involvement in ROTC, football, and wrestling. Additionally, he was a proud member of the Oxon Hill Swim Team, where he achieved numerous medals, showcasing his competitive spirit and determination.

Following high school, Pete served his country with pride in the Air Force as an Imagery Interpreter Technician. His military service, which was marked by distinction, earned him several accolades, including the Good Conduct Medal, Training Ribbon, Longevity Service Award Ribbon, Achievement Medal, Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, and Outstanding Unit Award. His time in service left an indelible mark on him, as he continued to cherish the camaraderie and values he gained during those years.

Pete was a man of great personality; he was known for his big laugh, sense of humor, and an insatiable appetite for learning. Friends and family have often described him as a wonderful person, someone who was genuinely nice and always a joy to be around. His warmth and zest for life drew people to him, creating connections that will be dearly missed.

Beyond his professional and military achievements, Pete found immense joy in his hobbies. He was passionate about working on cars, enjoying off-shore fishing, and exploring the underwater world through snorkeling and scuba diving. These interests not only brought him personal happiness but also created lasting memories with loved ones.

Pete took immense pride in his family, considering his children and grandchildren to be his proudest accomplishments. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Maria Castiglioni, her husband, Brandon Allen, and their children, Aiden and Charleigh. He is also survived by his son, Anthony Castiglioni, and his brother, Anthony "Tony" Castiglioni, along with sister-in-law Leigh Ann, nephews Jack, James, Chris, and his wife, and cousin Hans Greser and his wife.

He was preceded in death by his father, Pete F. Castiglioni; mother, Johanna Evelyn Blatnik; and stepfather, John A. Blatnik.

Pete leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family and country. His memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege to know him.
