Philippe Maison

April 21, 1938 — October 15, 2024

McLean, Virginia

A beloved husband, father, Pepe, and friend, Philippe Maison was the heart and soul of our family. A man whose kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Born on April 21, 1938 in Corrèze, France, Philippe lived a life rich in love and laughter.

Philippe Maison was a French marquis and a descendant of General Nicolas-Joseph Maison, who was a General for Napoleon and French Minister of War. Philippe received many accolades during his life. Philippe was a member of the French Army. He fought in the Algerian War where he received a Croix de Guerre, similar to the US Purple Heart.

When studying in Paris, he apprenticed in Cosmetology with Elizabeth Arden. He eventually moved to the United States and became a successful hairstylist in the Washington D.C. area. Some of his clients included Neil Armstrong, Bill Anders, and Ethel Kennedy.

Beyond his career, Philippe was a man who made everyone feel special, always offering a smile, a joke, or a kind word. His ability to bring joy into any room was unmatched. He loved hard and never waivered in his kindness.

Family was at the center of Philippe's world. He was a devoted husband to Lucy Maison. His dedication and love to Lucy had no limits. Their love is one that all strive for; kind, loving, and tender. His pride and joy were also his grandchildren, who he adored endlessly. Whether telling them stories, sharing his wisdom, or making them laugh, he cherished every second spent with them.

He is survived by his wife, Lucy Maison, his two sons, Eric and Nicolas Maison, his five step-children (Jeffrey, Keith, Scott, Susan, and Elizabeth), and thirteen grandchildren (Emily, Luke, Lily-Claire, Ellie, Lucy, Jeffrey, Jamie, Carly, Josh, Caroline, Grace, Alexander, and Amy.)

Philippe leaves behind a family who will forever hold his memory close and carry forward the lessons he taught us about love, family, and living life with a full heart. In the words of our sweet Pépé; "Relationships have four pieces; Respect, Love, Communication, and Compromise. Keep laughing, be patient, and have fun together."  He will be truly missed each and everyday.
