Raymond Leo Desautels of Arlington, Virginia, passed away on January 8, 2026, at the age of 61, following a courageous battle with brain cancer.

Born on August 9, 1964, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, to the late Donald Desautels and Jeannette Desautels, Ray was a graduate of Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. He built a distinguished career with the Department of Defense, where he dedicated 22 years of service. Known as a dependable, hardworking, and respected colleague, Ray took great pride in his work and the people he worked alongside.

A loyal and caring husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, Ray is survived by his husband, Terence Triet Tu of Arlington, Virginia; his mother, Jeannette Desautels of New Bedford, Massachusetts; and his siblings: Claudette Desautels of Arundel, Maine; Michael Desautels of Sarasota, Florida; Paul Desautels of Bradenton, Florida; and Pauline DaCosta of Acushnet, Massachusetts. He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephew.

Ray and Terence shared a love of traveling together and took great joy in spoiling their beloved pittie, Ace. Ray also found happiness working outdoors, spending countless hours caring for and improving their home.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A private family service will be held at a future date.
