Rhonda Leigh Owen, a beloved mother, devoted wife, and cherished friend, passed away on February 19, 2026, in Crofton, Maryland, after a brief illness. Born on June 24, 1970, in Greenville, Pennsylvania, Rhonda was known for her kind, caring spirit and unwavering dedication to her family.

Rhonda's remarkable journey began with her passion for understanding the complexities of the human mind, which she pursued with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She began her career working with children at the South Bethlehem Neighborhood Center.  She continued to further her education, earning a Master’s in Education from the University of Maryland. These academic achievements paved the way for her fulfilling career in education.  After embracing motherhood with her three amazing children, Paige, Jack, and Claire, Rhonda transitioned into the role of a substitute teacher before becoming a certified special education teacher at Monarch Academy in Laurel, Maryland. Her devotion to her students and colleagues was unmatched, as she continually inspired those around her with her altruism, always preferring to work quietly behind the scenes, away from the spotlight.

In her personal life, Rhonda’s proudest accomplishments were her children and grandchildren. She was immensely proud to be a mom to Paige, Jack, and Claire, and treasured her role as GiGi to Bella and Max. Her laughter, compassion, and guidance will forever resonate in their hearts.

Rhonda cherished her family connections and held a special place for those she loved. She was married at Christmastime in 1991 to her husband, Thomas Owen, with whom she built a beautiful family. She is survived by her loving husband Thomas, their children Paige, Jack, and Claire, as well as her grandchildren Bella and Max. Rhonda is also remembered by her mother, Polly Artman; brother Scott Artman and sister-in-law Pamela Artman; aunt Bonnie Eagon; and uncle Don Eagon.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Artman.

Rhonda's legacy is one of service, kindness, and unwavering love. Those who knew her can recall the warmth she brought into every room, her capacity for compassion, and the profound impact she had on the lives of her students and the community. She will be deeply missed but her spirit will forever remain alive in the hearts of those she touched.
