Richard Leon Mabe, known affectionately to those who loved him as Ricky, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 20, 2026, in Manassas. Born on June 2, 1954, in Maryland, Ricky was the embodiment of kindness and generosity, a selfless man who devoted his life to others with unwavering love and warmth.

Ricky’s journey through life was marked by a steadfast dedication to his work and family. For most of his career, he diligently served at JW and Sons, where he became more than just a colleague; he was a mentor and guide to many, shaping careers and inspiring countless individuals to reach their potential. Even after retiring, his commitment did not wane. Ricky continued to pour his heart into his role at NAPA Auto, where he cultivated lasting friendships and left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to work alongside him.

Beyond his professional achievements, Ricky’s greatest pride came from his family. He was one of seven siblings and often expressed deep joy and pride in the accomplishments of those closest to him — from his daughters graduating high school and college to his grandchildren embarking on their educational paths. Every milestone of his loved ones was a triumph in his eyes, reflecting his boundless support and encouragement.

A simple man with a big heart, Ricky was known for his down-to-earth nature and infectious humor. He was generous to a fault, always putting others first and ensuring everyone around him felt secure and cared for. Those who spent time with him treasure memories of cooking Thanksgiving dinners together, where he would inevitably buy a turkey too large for the occasion, a charming testament to his abundant spirit. Evenings in the garage, listening to his stories, brought warmth and laughter, while watching him walk his daughter down the aisle captured a moment of profound love and pride. For many, sharing a meal with Ricky was a special occasion.

His passions were many: cooking, spending time with friends, cherishing his family, tinkering in the garage, and enjoying his truck and beloved cat. Ricky had a sweet tooth for desserts and a particular love for Thanksgiving—a holiday that clearly mirrored his giving nature.

Ricky is survived by his loving wife, Nora Mabe, and his cherished children, Jimena Mahoney Mabe and Karenn Bonilla. His family extends to his treasured grandchildren, Mia Lopez and Pablo Lopez, his niece Alexandria Melgar, as well as Colin Mahoney and Gustavo Lopez, his sons-in-law. He is also remembered with affection by his siblings Donald Wayne Mabe, Susan Mabe Gosewisch, Victoria Mabe Stevenson, and Patsy Mabe Trussell.

He was preceded in death by his devoted mother, Claudia Merle Phillips; his father, Alfred Louis Mabe; and siblings Alfred Lewis Mabe Jr and Linda Carol Mabe. Their memories remain intertwined with his, forming the foundation of the loving family that Ricky cherished so deeply.

To describe Ricky as simply a generous, loving man falls short of capturing the essence of who he was. He was the best dad anyone could ever ask for, a rock of unwavering support and kindness. He leaves behind a legacy not only through his work and family but also through the countless lives he touched with his warmth, humor, and heart.

Though Ricky has taken his final rest, the echoes of his love, laughter, and generosity will continue to light the hearts of those who knew him. His memory will be cherished forever, a beacon of selflessness and devotion that will inspire all who were blessed to know him. Rest in peace, Ricky — a truly remarkable man whose life made the world a better place.
