Robert John
Boyle
Dec 2, 1953 — Oct 18, 2026
Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania
Bob was the proud father of Melissa, Ryan, and Colleen, and the beaming grandfather of Dylan, Kyra, Brynn, Cora, and Axel. He loved his grandchildren dearly and was so proud to be called Pop. He was also the proud big brother of his sisters, Denise and Sally.
Bob was an avid bowler. He learned the love of the game from his father, John, and received his first bowling ball at the age of 8. He loved bowling at Mars Lanes, and his high score was 287. Bowling brought him so many friends over the years, and he loved helping people with their game, especially after he could no longer bowl himself.
Bob was also a big golfer, another passion he learned from his father. He loved being out on the course and the conversations he had with whomever he was playing with.
Bob loved watching and playing volleyball, a passion he shared with his youngest daughter, Colleen, and where he met his second wife, Martha. He also spent years playing softball, which is where his daughter Melissa learned to love the game. He coached many of Melissa’s and Colleen’s softball teams when they were younger.
Bob loved taking selfies with his granddaughter Cora, and his camera roll was filled with funny pictures of the two of them. He loved watching his granddaughters Kyra and Brynn play field hockey, and he treasured hearing the adorable little voice of his youngest grandchild, Axel.
Bob grew up in King of Prussia, PA, and moved to Cranberry Township, PA, 28 years ago, which made him a man with two teams: the Philadelphia Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers. (One Man, Two Teams.)
His love of sports led him to work at summer sports camps in Gretna Glen and Jumonville, PA, where he later took his niece, Mei-Ling, and his grandson, Dylan.
Bob loved music and would beat anyone at music trivia, a talent his son, Ryan, shares. He loved the Beatles, Jim Croce, and Harry Chapin, and he played their music until the end.
Bob tried to learn everyone’s name and never met a stranger. He had a kind heart, though he didn’t always say the right thing, as his kids let him know quite often.
Bob passed away knowing how deeply he was loved by his family, and we know he will be watching over us. Hopefully, he will also ask God to be merciful to the Philadelphia Eagles this season and give us at least a couple of our starters back.
