Robert “Rob” Drew Douglas, 67, of Leesburg, Virginia, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on August 8, 2026.

Born in Washington, DC on October 21, 1958, Rob attended Michigan State University. He spent over 40 years as a manager of software development and was known for his dedication to his long-time colleagues and clients. Rob’s greatest joy in life was being a father, and he was passionate about cherishing time with family, gardening, and cheering on the Nationals and Michigan State.

Author Bell Hooks defines love as extending one’s self to nurture someone’s growth and wanting to see them become the best version of themselves. By that definition, Rob was one of the most loving people many of us will ever have the pleasure of knowing. A natural leader, Rob was incredibly selfless and cared deeply about everyone around him. Rob always stressed the importance of leaving situations better than you found them, and he ultimately succeeded by making the world a better place. Through mentorship and service, Rob impacted countless lives. He was also known for his booming, infectious laugh and patented dad jokes.

Rob’s parents, Blanche and Raymond Douglas; and brother, Raymond Douglas, preceded him in death. Rob is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Marla Douglas; children Drew, Amber, and Parker Douglas; son-in-law Nate Doggett; sister-in-law June Lain; and granddog Roxy.

A dedicated father, husband, and friend, Rob will be dearly missed.
