Roxana (Bragg) Duarte, daughter of Vera Bragg and granddaughter of George and Theodora Bragg, passed away in September after a battle with cancer.

A graduate of Notre Dame High School in Elmira, New York, Roxana earned an Associate Degree in Science from Corning Community College in Corning, New York. From there, she firmly established herself as a Registered Nurse (RN). Roxana had a long, viable career as an RN with over 50 years of nursing experience and was the recipient of numerous accolades. She functioned in a variety of capacities in both hospital and home healthcare management. Ultimately, she directed health units for two federal agencies in Washington, D.C., before retiring from nursing.

Roxana was fiercely independent. She was an avid reader and writer of poetry. Roxana was an artist and creative in every sense. She also mastered 5K races and enjoyed taking long, brisk walks. She was a member of the CCC Book club and the Wednesday Morning Club. She was a proud supporter of the John W. Jones Museum and volunteered on their fundraising/event planning committee for multiple years.

Roxana loved her family, friends, good music, dancing and traveling to places on her bucket list. 

In addition to close family members, special friends provided vital support over the course of her illness. These include Sandy, Joey, Johanna, Joanne, Shimeka, Cindy, Susan, Janet and Roland.

She is predeceased by her mother, grandparents and special cousin, Ricky Davis. Roxana is survived by her daughter, Michelle, a host of loving cousins and dear friends.

Roxana's family will hold a Mass of Christian Burial for her at a future date.
