Samuel Babatunde Ogunsanya, known as Tunde to family and friends, was born on June 21, 1957, in Iperu Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria, and passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026, in Washington, D.C., at the age of 69. To those who were fortunate to know him, Tunde was much more than a name—he was a beacon of kindness, generosity, wisdom, and unwavering care.

Tunde will be remembered as a man whose quiet presence grounded any room with warmth, integrity, and openness. Brilliant and strategic, he built a distinguished career in the transportation and logistics industry, first as a dedicated employee, and later as an entrepreneur who started and grew his own businesses. He was not afraid to take risks, leaving his homeland behind as a young man to pursue a college education in Illinois. His passions were diverse and ran deep: international geopolitics, the influence of Yoruba culture on world music and art across the African diaspora, internal cuisine, and his beloved Nigerian football team all could draw him into spirited conversation.

He embodied a gentle strength, marked by humility, honesty and dependability in equal measure. Above all, he had a rare gift for listening, making everyone who spoke with him feel truly heard and understood. His loyalty showed in the countless ways he supported loved ones, friends, and business associates alike, offering a helping hand, thoughtful advice, or heartfelt mentorship whenever it was needed most. Those closest to Tunde knew that family sat at the very center of his being. He gave everything he had to see them succeed and thrive, devoting himself, day after day, to their happiness and well-being.

Samuel's personality radiated friendliness and ease, endearing him to relatives, friends, and all who crossed his path. His humor and unmistakable laughter lightened hearts in joyful moments and difficult ones alike. The wisdom he shared, paired with his unique approach to life's challenges, created memories that will remain cherished by all who knew him.

Samuel is survived by his loving wife, Diane, and daughters, Jamila and Yetunde (Siku). He also leaves behind a devoted family, including his sisters, Lara Abereoje, Dupe Onwordi, and Niyi Emmanuel, and his brothers, Tunji Ogunsanya, Dare Ogunsanya, and Oludayo Ogunsanya. His loss is felt deeply by the many friends and extended family members he supported and inspired throughout his life. Samuel now joins his brother, Wilson Ogunsanya, and his parents, Williams and Josephine Ogunsanya, who preceded him in death.

Those left behind find comfort in knowing Samuel is now at peace in God's presence, and in recalling his enduring legacy: a lifetime marked by love, kindness, and profound respect for others.
