Samuel Vankim, a loving father and devoted family man, passed away peacefully on February 2nd, 2026 at the age of 90.
He was born in Vietnam. As a young man, he served as a pilot in the Vietnamese Air Force. He later worked as a translator for the U.S. Embassy during a challenging time in Vietnam. After the war ended in 1975, he and his family were fortunate to immigrate to the US. Like many others, he rebuilt his life, working for the Xerox Company as a copy machine technician before he and his wife opened a small Chinese restaurant.
Later in life, he retired and moved to California. Following the passing of his wife, Lien Kim, he relocated to Virginia, where he was cared for by his son and family until his passing.
Samuel is survived by his son Long, who will always remember him for his strength, hard work, and dedication to his family.
A funeral service will be held on February 6th at 9:30 AM at Carewell Funeral Cremations, 2929 Eskridge Rd Suite N, Fairfax, VA 22031.
