Sharilyn Hughes Burghart passed away unexpectedly on June 20th, 2025. Shari resided in Burke, Virginia. She was pre-deceased by her husband of more than 50 years, Lieutenant Colonel Frank Gerard Burghart. They had lived in Springfield, Virginia. Shari was a regular part of activities at Heatherwood retirement community. She especially enjoyed the visits by Pups on Wheels. She previously had a small business designing and making “vests” for blind dogs that helped them live a more normal life by avoiding collisions, while still being able to access their food and water. She is survived by her two brothers, Miles Hughes and Randy Hughes and their families. Her final resting place will be Arlington National Cemetery with her husband, Frank (date to be determined). She was 79 years old.
