Shayne Morris Hobley

February 21, 2005 — July 9, 2024

Los Angeles, CA

Shayne Morris Hobley (Gipson) passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. He was 19 years old.

Shayne was born in Southern California on Monday, February 21, 2005. He was the beloved first born son and was raised by his mother and stepfather, Jennifer and HeMan Gipson.

A precocious child, Shayne excelled in his studies and all things related to science was of great interest to him. He loved to read from a young age, and would spend hours upon hours reading the Bible, dictionary, encyclopedias, the birds of North America field guide, along with endless articles from the Institute of Creation Research (Acts and Facts Magazine). As a child, he would say that he wanted to be a pastor and a scientist when he grew up.

After professing his faith, Shayne was baptized as a reformed Christian in December of 2012 along side his mother, and served at his church (Grace Community Church) through the junior high ministry, “Servants for Christ”.

Shayne was an excellent big brother and showered his two younger brothers, Elijah and Samson, with love and protection. He shared his love of legos, video games, and super heroes with them. He and Elijah had an especially close relationship as Shayne played an integral roll in his formative years.

Proudly, Shayne was a self-proclaimed nerd who was always excited to learn, was extremely generous to others, adored his pet bird (Craver the Cockatiel), had a love for cooking that was sparked by his mother’s joy of serving those she loves with home-cooked meals, and had a wonderfully eclectic taste in music that was inspired by his father’s love of music.

He excelled at anything he put his mind to whether it be physical challenges such as Jiu Jitsu, or mental challenges such as building his own computer, and expressed his creativity thru art, such as drawing and photography.

Shayne graduated high school in 2021, and showed an interest in the food service industry early on. Eventually following his life long love of flying he started his college studies to become a pilot, but ultimately had decided to pursue a career in the medical field, specifically nursing.

In May of 2024, Shayne moved to Virginia to be closer to his long time girlfriend, Zoe (Z) Perzel, and was in the process of enlisting with the VA National Guard at the time of his passing.

Shayne will be forever loved and missed dearly by all who knew him, but his family trusts that his departure was perfect according to God’s timing and that he is now in the Father’s hands, and there is not a better place in all of creation to be.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

His family asks that any donations being made in his honor go directly to his mother:
