Shu Fei Chuang, 69, of Chantilly, Virginia passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026 in the comforting presence of her family after a courageous battle with cancer. Her strength and resilience throughout her illness were truly representative of the way she lived her life: full of grace, grit, and determination. She never allowed her diagnoses to define her spirit and continued to bring joy, laughter, and light into the lives of everyone she met.

Daughter of the late Shia-Long Chuang and Lu Hong Hwang, she was born in Taichung, Taiwan February 16, 1957. She studied commercial banking and insurance and immigrated to the United States in 1980 as a foreign student. She was married to Ay-Kuo (AK) Shyu on February 19, 1981, then celebrated with friends and family in Taiwan on June 20, 1981. She was the proud and loving mother of two children. Her 30-year career spanned a variety of roles at the U.S. Post Office, Fairfax County Health Department, and Fairfax County Victim’s Services Unit.

She enjoyed gathering with friends and family, spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, eating seafood, exercising, and walking. She also loved traveling; some of her favorite trips were to Patagonia, Jordan, and the Silk Road.

She is survived by three sisters, her husband, AK Shyu, her son, Daniel Shyu (Kimberly), her daughter, Diana Shyu Schram (Andrew), and five grandchildren: Ethan Parker Shyu (15), Emma Rose Shyu (11), Sophia Marie Schram (8), Madeline Shyu Schram (5), and Caeden Daniel Schram (2).

We say farewell to a remarkable woman—a loving wife, a cherished mother, devoted grandmother, and kind soul. While we mourn the loss of Shu Fei, we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the countless ways she enriched the lives of those around her. Her warmth, strength, and generous heart will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her memory will continue to inspire us, and her love will never be forgotten.

Friends and family are invited to Hilltop Farm on July 12, 2026 at 12 PM for a celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
