Steven "Michael" Bennett, known affectionately as Michael to those closest to him, has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Born on May 14, 1950, in Maryland, Michael dedicated over 30 years of his life to a career in telecommunications, showcasing his unwavering commitment and passion for his work. 

Described as funny, knowledgeable, and beloved by both humans and animals alike, Michael will be remembered for his hard-working nature and unwavering love/loyalty for others. It was said that he would give you the shirt off his back if you were in need, highlighting his selfless and compassionate nature. 

Apart from his professional achievements, Michael had a wide range of interests that brought joy to his life. From playing soccer to indulging in reading, scary movies, comic books, and music, he always found time to pursue his hobbies. His dedication to staying active was evident through his love for working out at the gym and playing pool with friends. Michael also had a taste for the finer things in life, enjoying visits to wineries, traveling internationally, and lounging on the beach, where he could unwind and appreciate life's simple pleasures. 

After a courageous battle with cancer, Michael passed away peacefully on June 30, 2024, at his home in Bristow, VA, surrounded by his loving family. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. 

Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years Michelle Bennett and their daughter Emily Bennett and daughter-in-law Charlotte Rookley. He is also survived by children from a previous marriage daughter Jennifer Elms, son Andrew Hodges-Bennett; grandchildren Reilly Lapine, Maynard & Mackenzie Grave; sister Sue Bennett; mother-in law Betty Buck; and sister-in-law and husband Stephanie & Mark Bizon. 

Michael was preceded in death by his mother Shirley Bennett; father Richard Bennett; and father-in-law Frank Buck. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of sharing their lives with such a remarkable man. 

In honoring Michael’s life and legacy, let us remember the joy he brought to those around him and the lasting impact he made on the world. May he rest in peace knowing that he was cherished beyond measure.
