Teisuke “Tei” Ito 83 of Fairfax, VA passed away on June 27, 2026 after years of failing health. He was born in Tokyo, Japan to Kazuko and Hitoshi Ito. His mother was a teacher and his father, a lawyer. He had three half sisters in Japan:  Tomoko Todani, Fusako Nagatani, and Yuriko Matsumoto. Tei married Nancy (Brunell) in 1977. They have two sons:  Jeffrey Ito (wife Stephanie and child Keilani) of Fairfax, VA and Patrick Ito of Rockford, MI. Tei was raised in Hiroshima, Japan, but fell in love with USA when he was an exchange student in 1960-61 at New Trier High School in Chicago. After graduating from International Christian University in Tokyo with BAs in Physics and Mathematics, he moved to America. He got a MS in Computer Science from Cornell and a PhD in Applied Mathematics from Brown. Later he received a Professional Scientist Degree in Communications Engineering from George Washington University in DC. 

Tei’s academic positions include teaching at Lafayette College, PA, Northern Michigan College, MI, and Harvey Mudd College/ClaremontGraduate School in CA.  He also loved coaching tennis at these colleges. 

Tei joined the business community and worked as a systems analyst for Logicon, Raytheon, I O Wave, and Boeing. He retired in 2017.

Tei loved music and singing as a tenor in Japanese glee clubs, Moravian Bach choir, and a Japanese Choir in Northern VA. He also loved playing tennis, skiing, swimming, traveling, and family - especially his sons! He will be missed❣️
