Tessa Blaire Bassett

Tessa Blaire Bassett, a vibrant young woman with a passion for adventure and creativity, departed this world far too soon on March 16, 2025, at the young age of twenty-one. Born on June 29, 2003, in Washington, DC, Tessa blossomed into a remarkable young woman who embodied kindness, curiosity, and an indomitable spirit that touched the lives of many.

As a senior at Virginia Commonwealth University, Tessa pursued her major in Information Systems, where she showcased her remarkable intellect. Tessa was an artist at heart, finding joy in the tangible as she fashioned beautiful works with her hands, knitting hats, purses and flowers. She also crafted 3D photo collages, created intricate nail designs, and produced beautiful paintings and sketches. Her creative spirit knew no bounds, and she possessed an exquisite eye for beauty that transformed the ordinary into the extraordinary.

Tessa had a deep love for animals, forging a special bond with her two French Bulldogs, Stella and Luna. She often found comfort in their company, and her compassion for all creatures, especially cats, showed her kind heart. Whether at the beach, by the pool, baking in the kitchen, or sharing sushi, Tessa loved spending time with her family and friends. One of her cherished memories includes a trip to Italy for her birthday.

Tessa leaves behind a loving family who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts. Her devoted mother, Cori Welbourn, and father, Tim Bassett, nurtured her dreams and passions. Tessa stood as a big sister and mentor to her younger sister, Ainsley Bassett. Her grandparents, Karen and Cal Welbourn, shared countless joyful moments with Tessa, witnessing her grow into the radiant person she was. She loved her aunts and uncles Jay and Tiffany Welbourn and Jen and Mike Bubb, and her cousins Mallory and Jacob Brain, Jenna Welbourn, and Lily and Graham Bubb, who filled her life with laughter and love.

A visitation to honor Tessa's life will take place on March 23, 2025, at Columbia Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Following the visitation, family and friends will gather for her burial from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM. Hor d'oeuvres will be served after the burial, as we cherish the memories and celebrate the impact Tessa had on so many.

While Tessa has left us, her spirit will forever linger in the hearts of those who were privileged to know her. She was a bright star, illuminating the lives around her with love, creativity, and warmth. As we remember Tessa Blaire Bassett, let us carry her legacy of kindness, curiosity, and artistic expression into our own lives, honoring the beautiful woman she was and will always be.
