LTC (Ret) Tevye Yoblick

Born April 29, 1970 in Philadelphia, PA, Tevye Yoblick passed away on January 10, 2025 in Springfield, VA at the age of 54. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend, whose life was marked by service, dedication and passion for his family, community and country.

Tevye is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Kelly L Yoblick, whom he married on May 15, 1992, in the chapel at Norwich University in Northfield, VT. He is also survived by his son, Alexander L Yoblick, his mother Harinam K Khalsa (born as Jean Chiofolo) and his brother,  Benjamin Yoblick. Tevye was preceded in death by his father, Sidney Yoblick.

Tevye is a 1988 graduate from Plymouth Whitemarsh High School in Plymouth Meeting, PA, where he was actively involved in Civil Air Patrol and the wrestling team. Upon graduating, Tevye chose to attend Norwich University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Peace, War & Diplomacy.

While studying at Norwich University, Tevye found his professional calling to lead a life of service to our country. As a member of the Norwich University Corps of Cadets, Tevye was active in the Army ROTC department and was also a member of the elite Mountain Cold Weather Rescue Team.

After graduating from Norwich University in 1992, Tevye commissioned with the United States Army as a second Lieutenant in Air Defense Artillery. Tevye served his country with honor and distinction retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. His dedication to service and leadership was evident throughout his career, and he remained committed to supporting military and veteran causes for the remainder of his life.

Outside of the military, Tevye was deeply involved in his community, particularly through his volunteer work with VASRA (Virginia Scholastic Rowing Association). He and his wife Kelly became part of the “River Rats” while supporting their son Alex’s rowing activities at Sandy Run Regional Park. During his time supporting the community Tevye earned the title of Course Master, where set and maintained the operation of the Olympic grade racecourse. In recent years, he took up rowing himself with the Sandy Run Scullers, further deepening his connection to the sport. Tevye was also an avid motorcyclist and owned two motorcycles. Whether he was driving to work, attending bike rally’s or taking a bike trip, he never missed the opportunity when the weather was good to get out for some good sun & wind therapy. Tevye was also a passionate fan of the World Champion Philadelphia Eagles. Along with a core group of friends, Tevye confounded the Eagles Nest fan group and enjoyed attending several NFL Draft weekends. As part of this team, Tevye found a special joy that was infectious across all that knew him. Tevye watched every season game with his closest friends and family at the Renegade Bar in Arlington, VA unless he was attending the game in person. His love for the Eagles was unmatched, though he also supported other Philadelphia teams including the Phillies and the 76ers.

Tevye will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country and his passion for the causes and communities he cherished. His love for Eagles football, his commitment to rowing and his ability to bring people together will leave a legacy. He is deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
