Thomas (Tom) Anthony Pugliese, 84, of Vienna, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on December 1, 1941, in Washington, D.C., Tom was the son of the late Thomas Pugliese of Puglia, Italy, and Agnes Barbagallo of Sicily, Italy. A proud Washingtonian, he graduated from Archbishop Carroll High School before attending the Catholic University of America, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1964.
Tom dedicated 33 years to a distinguished civil service career with the Department of the Navy. As an engineer, he was instrumental in designing and engineering vital systems for the Navy’s fleet. In his retirement, Tom found his greatest joy in family. He traveled frequently to visit his grandchildren, shared his appreciation for fine food and wine, and remained a formidable, "at-home" Jeopardy! contestant.
Tom is survived by his wife of 62 years, MaryAnn Fiora Pugliese; his four children and their significant others, Tommy (Shuang), Karen (Dave), Carol (Mark), and Sandra (Kiel); and his eight beloved grandchildren: Ransom, Ashton, Preston, Gracen, Keegan, Deklan, Renzo, and Luca.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
