Tyler Christian Santos, known affectionately as Ty, passed away on May 31, 2026, in Winchester, Virginia, at the age of 34. Born on February 11, 1992, in Providence, Rhode Island, Ty lived a life marked by dedication, love, and an unyielding spirit that touched everyone who knew him.

Ty was a man of many talents and passions. His career was one of management and leadership, having skillfully managed multiple Tobacco and Vape shops with a calm and steady hand. Yet, his ambition extended far beyond that; Ty was earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Cloud and Network Engineering (AWS) from Western Governors University and obtained several esteemed certifications including CompTIA A+, Linux Professional Institute Essentials (LPI), and ITL4 Foundations in IT Service Management. These achievements reflect his insatiable thirst for knowledge and growth.

His military service was a testament to his discipline, honor, and technical precision. From earning the Marine Corp Distance Learning Network Certificate in Armory Management to graduating honorably from the US Army Ordnance School at Fort Lee, Ty exemplified commitment. His excellence was recognized through multiple awards, such as the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for maintaining a 99% equipment readiness rate under stress, a Certificate of Commendation for superior armory management, and the Good Conduct Medal honoring four years of steadfast, honorable service.

Beyond his professional and military accomplishments, Ty was deeply cherished for his personality. He was smart, witty, and brutally honest, yet behind his quiet exterior lay a heart full of empathy, compassion, and humility. Loyal and trustworthy, he was the kind of person others could always count on. Those closest to him knew him as funny, laid-back, goofy, and loving—a remarkable blend that made him both an amazing husband and a devoted friend.

Ty’s hobbies and interests were as varied and vibrant as his life. A self-taught professional, he poured his passion into cars, sport bikes, guns, video games, cryptocurrency, and even conspiracy theories. Yet, he treasured quiet moments spent at home with his beloved wife Kristina Anna Santamaria and their cherished dogs—Akamaru, Dobby, and Khaleesi—and enjoyed long FaceTime calls with family, sharing the laughter and love that defined his relationships. Music was also close to his heart, especially heavy metal, rap, dubstep and the eclectic tastes of his wife.

The memory of Tyler lives on most vividly in those who loved him. His wife Kristina, who experienced the joy of his undying support and care; his mother Debra Jean Smith-Ochs; his siblings Michaela Jean Ochs and Dylan Michael Ochs; his in-laws, Manuel Santiago Santamaria and Yorlanda Pablita Santamaria; his grandmother Maria Teresa Lopes; his father John Christian Santos;—all hold dear the countless moments he inspired, taught, and uplifted.

Those who knew Tyler remember how he could always make everything okay. One treasured memory is witnessing the pure excitement when he found something new to be passionate about—throwing himself wholeheartedly into every endeavor and radiating happiness, letting those around him feel his contagious joy. He pushed others gently but firmly to believe in themselves and achieve their goals, large or small. His pride was quietly reflected in his roles as a provider and as a loving husband, and in the meticulous care of his cars, bikes, and computers, and in the personal statements of his beard and tattoos.

Tyler's life ended as heroically as he lived it—on a final ride on his motorcycle through the beautiful mountains and open roads he adored. Though his passing in the accident on that Sunday morning was sudden, those who loved him find solace in knowing he left this world doing what he loved, free and true to himself.

In remembering Tyler Christian Santos, we honor a life fully lived—a man whose warmth, dedication, and unwavering spirit will forever inspire and remain etched in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him. His legacy is one of love, strength, and the belief that we can accomplish far more than we ever thought possible. Ty was, simply put, an amazing human being, and he will be deeply missed.
