Vinchanzo Goodman
1947 - 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the recent passing of Vinchanzo Goodman, a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a longtime resident of Crystal City, Virginia. He was 78 years old.
Vince, as he was known, was born in Paducah, Kentucky in September 1947, to James “Buddy” Goodman and Elizabeth Lee Goodman.
Vince graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Paducah in 1964 before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a combat veteran, serving two tours in Vietnam in 1967/68. As a corporal in the Marines, Vince saw action in Khe Sanh, Vietnam, and he had many incredible stories of his time there. He was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for meritorious service for his bravery and leadership and was honorably discharged in 1972.
After Vietnam, Vince enrolled at Howard University where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He had an illustrious career with the United States Department of Commerce, retiring as a Senior Budget Analyst in 1995. For a time, Vince lived in Caracas, Venezuela with his wife Irma Brito.
Known for his wicked sense of humor, and passion for connecting with young people, Vince was a teddy bear wrapped in a gruff voice. He took pride in mentoring young people, providing them with thoughtful career counseling and lessons to help them successfully navigate their lives and the world. His legacy is the many young people whose lives are enriched from knowing him and benefitting from his wisdom and counsel.
Vince was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Ed, Giovanni and Dominic. He is survived by his wife Irma, and sons Nicholas and Pedro Vicente.
