Wanda Kay Carter a beloved mother, wife, and dearest friend, passed away on November 30th, 2025, at 9:12 am at Sentara Hospital in Woodbridge. Born on February 18th, 1947 to Lawrence Hendrix Canupp and Virginia Mott, Wanda was a woman who would give her all for those around her, even at the cost of herself.

For those fortunate enough to know her they recognized her love for people was unmistakable. She grew up in the area of Concord, North Carolina and soon came to Northern Virginia in order to pursue to a nursing career to help others. She was also adamant about fulfilling her civic duty which included helping people register to vote and organizing a fundraiser for local 9/11 victims. She always tried to learn new things and she always encouraged others to learn and push themselves as well. She often held after-school study sessions to help practice for the Standards of Learning and was a prolific voice on the PTSO in her daughter's school.

She loved trips to the beach and also to Skyline Drive to enjoy the scenic mountain view.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Howard (née Canupp), who passed away in 2015.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth Ray Carter and her daughter Mildred Carter.
