Wayne Randall Broadwater, Jr. of Herndon, VA passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 in Manassas, VA. Wayne was born on Wednesday, October 4th 1972, on Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan. He was the son of Major Wayne Randall Broadwater, Sr. and Margaret Suzanne (Irwin) Broadwater. In early life, Wayne grew up in many places as a military dependent, including Biloxi, MS. He attended elementary school in Oklahoma City, OK and Middle School at Air Academy Jr. High School in Colorado Springs, CO. Wayne was very bright, graduating from Kecoughtan High School in Hampton, Virginia in 1990. He attended the University of West Florida on a scholarship and later obtained his Associate in Arts degree in Agricultural Engineering from Pensacola State College in Florida. Wayne was a long time resident of West Florida and later of Northern Virginia. As a young man, he was very passionate about music, arts and history, and he had a great love for animals. His hobbies and interests throughout his life were wide spread. As a boy he was a Cub Scout and part of a youth bowling league. He enjoyed the outdoors and camping. He also enjoyed playing the guitar, surfing and fishing the beautiful waters of the Florida Gulf Coast, and reading many novels. He was a skilled and knowledgeable tradesman, with a focus in tile setting, painting and roofing. On Sunday, May 10th 2026, Wayne suffered from a major cardiac event resulting in brain death, officially declared on Wednesday, May 13th 2026 at 5:20pm at the UVA Prince William Medical Center in Manassas, VA. He is preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his daughter Hannah (Jakob) and his two grandchildren Lydia and Anakin, along with his sister Cecillia, niece Amanda (Matt), and his great niece and nephew Layla and Liam. In the wake of these tragic and unique circumstances, Wayne has been able to provide the gift of life through organ donation, having a direct impact on three separate people. His sacrifice has afforded these individuals and their families the promise of our most valuable resource, time. His gift of life coincides with his generous and giving spirit. No formal memorial services will take place at this time.
