William Lewis Bonner

William Lewis Bonner, affectionately known as Willhem Raynard, illuminated the world with his vibrant spirit from May 5, 2003, until his untimely departure on October 3, 202. Born in Fredericksburg, VA, he found his final moments in the serene surroundings of Linden, VA. Despite his brief journey on this earth, William carved a deep and lasting impact on the hearts of all who knew him.

William was a kind, gentle soul whose light shone brightly in a world that often felt too harsh. Born with autism, William saw life in black and white, yet his heart was filled with the colors of compassion, creativity, and quiet strength. Though he faced great challenges — enduring change, bullying, and the heavy toll of mental health struggles — William met life with courage and authenticity. He hated hatred, sought peace, and found beauty in the simplest of things. Through his photography, he captured the details most of us overlook, reminding us to pause and truly see the world around us. During his high school years, William balanced lifeguarding with a luthier apprenticeship, nurturing his love for music and craftsmanship. He designed and built costumes, explored silversmithing, and immersed himself in the arts. He was endlessly creative, always finding ways to bring beauty into the world. William had a heart for others — especially those in need. He was often seen around town offering food or kindness to people experiencing homelessness. On his YouTube channel, he spoke out for equity and compassion, using his voice to spread understanding and hope. Animals were drawn to him. He was, in every sense, an animal whisperer — gentle, patient, and kind. His quiet connection with all living things revealed a rare tenderness. Temple Grandin was one of his role models, inspiring him to embrace his uniqueness and see the strength in his difference. William believed that autistic people hold a special place in humanity — that they are vital to the world’s survival. Though he may never have fully seen his own worth, those who loved him saw a soul of extraordinary depth, empathy, and potential.

William was loved by many. His legacy lives on in every person who stops to appreciate the small, beautiful details of life — the sunlight on leaves, the rhythm of a song, the quiet act of kindness that can change a day. In his memory, may we all strive to see the good, to value differences, to end bullying, and to lift those who are struggling with mental illness. Let William’s message echo across hearts everywhere: embrace the small things, love without judgment, and help those who cannot yet help themselves.

He is survived by his parents and step-parents, Jaime and Don Riley, Erik and Melanie Bonner, and Warren Beane. William is also survived by his sisters—Ashley, Gena, Hannah, Everleigh, and Lylah—and by his step-siblings: Katie, Scott, Jacob, Drew, Brandon, Johnathan, Nick, Matthew, and Amber. He is lovingly remembered by his great-grandmother, Mary Kamrath, and his grandparents, Hazel and Robert Bonner. 

William’s family circle extended even further to include many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends, each of whom played a special role in the rich tapestry of his life.

While he has been preceded in death by his uncle, Shawn Huffman, and great-grandmother, Florence Isabelle Sarapa, the legacy of love and joy that William leaves behind will forever resonate. He will be remembered not only for his vibrant personality but also for the countless lives he touched with his kindness and compassion.

William's spirit will continue to inspire those who were privileged to know him. His life was short, but his impact — and his love — will endure forever. Rest in peace, dear William; you are deeply missed.
