It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William (Bill) Theodore Coe, beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at the age of 96.
Bill was born on November 22, 1928, in Washington, DC to Mildred and William Coe. He was raised in Arlington, VA and married Patricia Ellen “Patsy” Coe on June 9, 1956. He moved his family to the City of Fairfax, VA in 1960 and resided there until his death.
He was dedicated to the city community and coached girls’ softball and basketball for the Fairfax Police Youth Club for many years. He served on City Council from 1970 – 1972. He was employed by and attended Truro Church where he served two terms on the vestry. He volunteered for The Lamb Center where he supported the homeless population with love and kindness.
Bill was known for his deep faith in God, gentle demeanor and kind heart. He always made time for his family and friends, often sharing tidbits about life in a meaningful way.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patsy in 2000. He is survived by his daughters Patricia Ellen, Barbara Elizabeth, and Ann Marie Coe, grandson Bradley Burke Zombro, his wife Alyssa and her mother, Carol Schlapo, and two great grandsons, Grant William and Reid Everett Zombro.
In lieu of flowers and in remembrance of Bill’s life and love, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to The Lamb Center 3160 Campbell Drive, Fairfax, VA 22031
